PowerEdge VRTX announced at Dell Enterprise Forum

Why are we launching PowerEdge VRTX ?

Office-scale: Dell PowerEdge VRTX

To date, workload and application-centric IT infrastructure has been engineered for large enterprises, and does not address the needs of quickly growing remote/branch office (ROBO) or small-to-medium business (SMB) customers.

According to research commissioned in 2013 by Dell and Intel, small businesses and startups are more optimistic and planning to grow their companies in the near future and consider access to technology as key to successful growth.

What has been announced ?

Following that customer focus, Dell introduces PowerEdge VRTX, the first converged IT solution designed specifically for remote and small office environments, with enterprise-class capabilities in a desk-side, space-saving design. Dell PowerEdge VRTX enables customers and partners to:

  • Experience greater simplicity

  • Realize improved efficiency

  • Achieve greater value with a pre-configured solution

How is PowerEdge VRTX positioned ?

PowerEdge VRTX is the new benchmark for Office IT.

VRTX integrates servers, storage, networking and management into a single, compact chassis optimized for office environments power and acoustics, ranging from SMB offices to the remote offices / branch offices (ROBO) of Large Enterprises and Public organizations.

VRTX’s simplified systems management enables management of all resources inside the chassis with a unified tool, presented in a single console.

PowerEdge VRTX is an excellent solutions platform for a wide range of applications and workloads used in offices.

Where to find Customer Facing information online ?

VRTX information can be viewed by potential customers at the following links:

An external facing video explaining VRTX can also be found on YouTube ! On top, with one of the first reviews to appear, in ITPro, the PowerEdge VRTX has already won a 5 star award and an ITPRO Innovation award!

Announcing the availability of single node PowerEdge VRTX solutions

Based on the customers feedback, there was requirement to offer the PowerEdge VRTX chassis only with one Server node, what wasn’t possible until now. The PowerEdge VRTX chassis was orderable only with minimum of 2 PowerEdge server nodes.

In response to this demand, single node PowerEdge VRTX solutions are now available to configure, quote & order via Gii Product catalog or Dellstar tools.

The PowerEdge VRTX single node configurations can now be configured with either 1x PowerEdge M520-VRTX or 1x PowerEdge M620-VRTX server node.

Ordering instructions:When configuring the PowerEdge VRTX Chassis with only 1 Server Node, a Blank filler must be selected on the VRTX Chassis. Blank filler is located in Module 677 - Blade Blank Fillers, option 836037 - Blade Blanking Panel.

PowerEdge T20

Positioning and key features:

  • The PowerEdge T20 mini tower server is the new entry point into the PowerEdge 1-socket tower server family (T20 – T110 II – T320). It does not replace, rather it complements, the T110 II. The T110 II continues as a sustaining product.

  • The T20 offers basic systems management, typical of what is needed in a stand-alone SOHO environment. Users needing advanced management capabilities and remote management in particular should look to the T320.

  • Features acoustics quieter than an office conversation and a compact, mini tower chassis that fits under or beside a desk or on a counter top; Installs and operates unobtrusively anywhere

  • T20 supports up to 4 memory DIMMs, providing large memory space to drive application performance and fast response times.

  • Supports up to 6 internal hard drives, four 3.5” HDD plus two 2.5” HDD.

  • 4 I/O slots (3 x PCIe plus 1 x PCI) enable configuration flexibility and budget-friendly expansion, allowing you to grow at your own pace and protect your IT investments

  • With 12 USB ports, four of which are USB 3.0, users can quickly and conveniently attach external devices

  • PowerEdge T20 delivers outstanding quality and reliability, and provides high availability features including ECC memory, software RAID, and optional backup and restore solutions to keep data secure and available.

  • The PowerEdge T20 is a stable platform providing excellent investment protection. Users can install the T20 today and grow at their own pace through time, adding storage and I/O as they are needed.

The PowerEdge T20 is a fix configuration system where customers can choose from below 3 pre-configurations. Other components can be purchased through customer kits or S&P.
